As we reflect on this past year at RCITY, we are filled with gratitude, pride, and excitement for what lies ahead. This year was one of growth, celebration, and meaningful connection, rooted in our continued commitment to building pathways for youth and families to thrive.
One of the most significant moments of this year was celebrating 10 years of community at River City. For a decade, R CITY has been a place of opportunity, joy, learning, and belonging. What began as a vision has grown into a trusted community hub, one that supports young people, uplifts families, and strengthens our neighborhood. Reaching this milestone is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the trust of our families, and the unwavering support of our partners, community members, and all of you.
Throughout the year, our community came together for events that celebrated culture, connection, and care. From our Black History Showcase, which honored the richness of our history and the voices of our youth, to our joyful Easter Egg Hunt that brought families together in laughter and play. We celebrated and uplifted caregivers during our Mother’s Day event, creating space for appreciation and connection, and closed out the year with our beloved Christmas Party, a reminder of the warmth and generosity that defines our community.
None of this would be possible without our families, partners, donors, volunteers, and supporters. Your belief in our mission fuels the work we do every day and makes moments like these worth celebrating. Thank You!
The end of 2025 also marked a leadership transition for R CITY. Beth Galik, one of our founders and most recently our Finance and Funding Lead, is moving on to a new chapter. She is launching an exciting new non-profit, Legendary Communities, a collaboration of five urban ministries, including R CITY, dedicated to sharing inspiring stories of faith and resilience from the world’s most challenging places. You can read more about her new venture here. While we will miss her daily presence, we are grateful that she will remain on our Board of Directors, ensuring we still have access to her deep institutional knowledge and strategic vision.
In this season of change, we are also thrilled to welcome Jung Sun (JC) Chang as our new Director of Finance and Funding. A long-time member of River City Community Church and current Elder, JC has been a friend of R CITY since its founding in 2015. She brings over 25 years of experience in sales and operations from top media companies like Zillow and Cars.com, as well as a background in urban ministry leadership. We are blessed to have her on our team as we move into 2026. You can read more about JC here!
As we look ahead, we do so with optimism and purpose. The next chapter of R CITY is filled with possibility, and we are excited to continue building pathways, nurturing potential, and strengthening our community – together.
